  • Who has not heard tired tourists discussing about the legendary idleness of the Southern Man? In this "there" imagined and exoticised, the rhythm would, it seems, be different. Understand "slow". Hence poverty. Construction of a great logic based on foundations which are yet very brittle The inertia of colonial ideologies. We do not stop a clipper in motion, loaded with false truths and ideological justifications of economic and cultural domination.

Is sleep in the North so different from sleep in the South ? This sleeping man in the Paris metro looks in many ways like our sleepers in the South. He reminds us that the boundaries between these two spaces are increasingly blurred. That the South must work more and more in the North to compensate for the predations of which it is the victim. For migrants who energize the moribund economies and cultures of the North, this unconsciousness does not seem to be different. It is made of staggered hours, multi-activity and hectic rates.

If dreams allow all to escape equally, the sleep of the poor is not worth the sleep of the rich. The first struggle with his environment, the second with his conscience. While the poor struggle with mosquitoes and bedbugs, Europe and the United States are the first consumers of sleeping pills in the world.
